emerging issues in society

One major concerning issue that is acquiring in present day is the criminal justice system involving sociological theories of deviance under traits regarding race, class, and gender in crime. The jail rates are currently skyrocketing through the roof and there needs be a program for early prevention or intervention for delinquent related problem in our youth adolescents.  Many children in the United States today are lacking the typical fundamental elements for a positive human development. If the younger children do not receive essential development then the child is more prone to adopt adult criminality because they did not abnormally prepare themselves socially and economically in there childhood adaptation to adult hood.

5. poem rich vs. poor

share your stories with the poor
and they'll find joy
share your stories with the rich
and they'll try to top it
share your wealth with the poor
and they'll find a way to double it
share your wealth with the rich
and they'll try to take twice as much
share your experiences with the poor
and they'll learn your lessons
share your experiences with the rich
and they'll pick out your faults
share your wisdom with the poor
and they'll pass it on
share your wisdom with the rich
and they'll claim it as their own
give the poor a glass of water
and they'll give it to their child
give the rich a glass of water
and they'll ask if its tap
give the poor a loaf of bread
and they'll eat it for a week
give the rich a loaf of bread
and they'll show you all the imperfections
give the poor a place to sleep
and they'll offer all they have in return
give the rich a place to sleep
and they'll ask for silk sheets
give your name to the poor
and they'll be there when your in need
give your name to the rich
and they wont remember it tomarrow

I found this chapter to be very eye opening from the huge gap between certain countries in the global stratification department.  There is a certain momentum that is carrying the global network influence of power between the rich and the poor. We are facing a diverse inequality concerning the modernization, dependency, and world system theory of global stratification. We are moving very rapidly among new age technology leaving the lower world countries no room to even play catch up. We have cause the huge gap that have separated us and now we are the ones that have to support there countries modernization due to the fact they became dependent on us.
Due to these astonishing achievements we have made throughout our society makes a chilling consequence for all the other countries. They are not able to support their growing population, can provide adequate health care and safe environments, their education system have crumpled leaving no promising future, gender inequality among woman and children, and the competition of war among the ones that are struggling competing to survive. The rich have created this line that cannot be penetrated leaving room for only average household incomes. Which bring another line to cross which is the poverty line that more and more people are descending to due to the power and influence of the rich.   7. word search:

5. poem-
Black is Black.
White is White.
Life is always
A racial fight.
don’t date her
don’t Marry Him
he doesnt match
The color of your skin
Why does it matter?
Why do we care?
Would you see a difference
If the skin wasnt there?
They may use a language
We do not speak
They may have beliefs
We find unique.
But deep down inside
Beneath that thin shell,
You may just find someone
You know very well.
Friends come in all sizes, colors, and shapes,
And you might miss a lot
If you see only a face.
Each culture has something
Unique we can learn
To make our lives better,
Our souls much more pure.
So cast off your prejudice
Replace hate with love
And look on each person
As does your Father above.

This chapter we very insightful because it discussed the raw facts between race and ethnicity proving no matter what group you’re in it has flaws. This eventually separated us into groups that pose a minority group and a more powerful dominant group. This generated the stereotypical views that have become active in today’s society. Certain groups formulated judgments about one another that became a prejudice to all diverse groups. The media certainly didn’t stop these views but would circulated putting the portrayed idealistic view for people to absorb.
It is hard to look away from all this judgments that are people passed from person to person. These statements about another person’s race will always be around due to out history. The present day challenge is to attain racial and ethnic equality among us all.  Slowly but surly people are dropping the relative opinions reaching a radical social chance due to the civil rights strategy. This allows everyone the equal opportunities at a given point or place among there society.

4. #1- http://deviance.socprobs.net/Unit_1/Page_1.htm
this shows the different categories the people determine who is deviant or not in society. is also puts a perspective on reality show that all people weren't supposed to have the same values, beliefs, and views it is ok to be different.
5. poem-

The institutions of the Criminal Justice system,
For years, holding innocent victims,
False convicted then freed 20 years later,
Because now DNA proves innocence,
They say incarceration is legal penalty,
so what’s the penalty for taking 20 years,
of an innocent man or woman’s life,
See, false imprisonment, political repression,
False enemies of the state, serving,
Maximum, medium and minimum sentences,
When the cell doors closes, they say,
Prison can reform someone, but studies prove,
Half of them come out worst than the point,
In which they went in, so what does this say,
Sometimes the punishment, just doesn’t fit,
But some still go up the river,
And some judges just abuse their power,
Playing the executioner, value of life,
Never taken into consideration, they say,
There are millions in prison, and just think,
Out of many, how many are falsely imprisoned,
And the real killers, rapist and child molesters,
Are still walking our streets today,
The institutions of the Criminal Justice system,
For years, is still holding innocent victims,
Weak evidence, and no proof, but just words,
That left them institutionalized and trapped in the system.
6.
I found this chapter particular interesting because it measures crime with all the different forms of defiant people in a society. This is a line drawn when it comes to race, class, and gender. The criminal justice system passes judgment to certain social stigmas. Corporate crime is all around us but can never be taken down because people are too afraid to take a stand. But when it comes to organized crime nobody is hesitant not to say anything.
A typical deviance behavior is on the violated the expected rules and norms. But deviance can be seen to rub of as institutional by it is a result of a group not just an individual.  This makes people more prone to become deviant due to the influence of a group because it is more likely to pick up on a daily basis.

this website shows how long the media has been affecting our lives since the beginning. it provides you with examples and details on how it is being opposed to you when walking anywhere in the surrounding society.
5. poem about mass media:

Mass Media
You tell us what we need to know
You tell us what we need to think
You tell us what is the truth
And you drive us to the very brink
6.
I found this chapter really fascinating because it broke down the cultural norms, beliefs, and values in different diverse societies.  It provides a real symbolic definition on what culture is.  Norms are what people set in a society that can be formal or informal and when they are violated beliefs can vary. Beliefs in a society can be referred to share ideas of the true nature of social reality. Then when a person has their own set of beliefs the concepts of values can provoke different ideas.
Culture can rapidly become different when mass media is involved in the popular culture of a society.  The media has an enormous influence on a group’s main belief or value.  The media can impose an influence that has a major racist or sexism view altering the though of people in society. This is a huge influential tool the media hold over people predicting their path in belief they way they wanted them to be expressed to society not you individual concerns.
